SHV-5, a novel SHV-type beta-lactamase that hydrolyzes broad-spectrum cephalosporins and monobactams [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1989
SHV-5 (pI 8.2), a novel broad-spectrum beta-lactamase encoded by a ca. 150-kilobase plasmid, was found in Klebsiella pneumoniae 160. SHV-5 beta-lactamase caused decreased susceptibility to most penicillins, cephalosporins, and monobactams, except imipenem and compounds which have a C6 or C7 alpha-methoxy substituent.

Avibactam and Inhibitor-Resistant SHV β-Lactamases [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2015
ABSTRACT β-Lactamase enzymes (EC 3.5.2.6) are a significant threat to the continued use of β-lactam antibiotics to treat infections. A novel non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor with activity against many class A and C and some class D β-lactamase variants, avibactam, is now available in the clinic in partnership with ceftazidime ...

Multiparametric determination of genes and their point mutations for identification of beta-lactamases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
More than half of all currently used antibiotics belong to the beta-lactam group, but their clinical effectiveness is severely limited by antibiotic resistance of microorganisms that are the causative agents of infectious diseases. Several mechanisms for

The Subjective Visual Vertical and the Subjective Haptic Vertical Access Different Gravity Estimates. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
The subjective visual vertical (SVV) and the subjective haptic vertical (SHV) both claim to probe the underlying perception of gravity. However, when the body is roll tilted these two measures evoke different patterns of errors with SVV generally ...

Socio-hydrological vulnerability and adaptive capacity in Cuajimalpa municipality, Mexico City

open access: yesEconomía, Sociedad y Territorio, 2022
Mexico City (CDMX) is facing socio-hydrological vulnerability (SHV) due to its increasing water scarcity. This study assesses the SHV of CDMX’s Cuajimalpa municipality, through space dynamics and territorial particularities ...

A representation theorem for integral rigs and its applications to residuated lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We prove that every integral rig in Sets is (functorially) the rig of global sections of a sheaf of really local integral rigs. We also show that this representation result may be lifted to residuated integral rigs and then restricted to varieties of ...

Characterisation of Extended β-Lactamases and Plasmid Mediated Quinolones Resistancein Escherichia Coli from Shelter Dogs

open access: yesBulletin of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca: Veterinary Medicine, 2019
The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of β-lactamase (TEM, SHV, OXA), extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) and genes encoding plasmid mediated resistance to quinolones (PMQR) in extended spectrum cephalosporin (ESC)-resistant Escherichia ...

Carbon stars in the X-shooter Spectral Library [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We provide a new collection of spectra of 35 carbon stars obtained with the ESO/VLT X-shooter instrument as part of the X-shooter Spectral Library project. The spectra extend from 0.3$\mu$m to 2.4$\mu$m with a resolving power above $\sim$ 8000.

Molecular detection of extended spectrum beta lactamase producing E. coli from diarrheic deer feces [PDF]

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Veterinary Sciences
Beta-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli pose a public health threat due to their resistance to a wide range of broad-spectrum antibiotics as third-generation cephalosporins.

SHV-12, SHV-5, SHV-2a and VEB-1 extended-spectrum beta-lactamases in Gram-negative bacteria isolated in a university hospital in Thailand [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 2001
Sixty-one extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing isolates were collected from Srinagarind Hospital, Thailand. These included 43 Enterobacteriaceae and 18 Pseudomonadaceae. The 43 Enterobacteriaceae were found to produce the following ESBLs: 26 (60.5%) SHV-12, 13 (30.2%) SHV-5, two (4.7%) SHV-2a, one (2.3%) VEB-1 and one (2.3%) unidentified ...
