Maintenance of Stem Cell Niche Integrity by a Novel Activator of Integrin Signaling.
Stem cells depend critically on the surrounding microenvironment, or niche, for their maintenance and self-renewal. While much is known about how the niche regulates stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, mechanisms for how the niche is maintained ...

ABSTRACT Hydroxycinnamoyl tyramine conjugates are phenolamides produced by plants in response to pathogen attack and biotic stresses. Their proposed mechanisms of action include cytotoxicity towards pathogens, cell wall reinforcement to restrict pathogen proliferation, and signaling activity to trigger general stress responses.

On Constant-Round Concurrent Zero-Knowledge from a Knowledge Assumption [PDF]
In this work, we consider the long-standing open question of constructing constant-round concurrent zero-knowledge protocols in the plain model. Resolving this question is known to require non-black-box techniques.

Characterization of the Inhibitor-Resistant SHV β-Lactamase SHV-107 in a Clinical Klebsiella pneumoniae Strain Coproducing GES-7 Enzyme [PDF]
ABSTRACT The clinical Klebsiella pneumoniae INSRA6884 strain exhibited nonsusceptibility to all penicillins tested (MICs of 64 to >2,048 μg/ml). The MICs of penicillins were weakly reduced by clavulanate (from 2,048 to 512 μg/ml), and tazobactam restored piperacillin susceptibility.

On cohomology of locally profinite sets
Abstract We construct a locally profinite set of cardinality ℵω$\aleph _{\omega }$ with infinitely many first cohomology classes of which any distinct finite product does not vanish. Building on this, we construct the first example of a nondescendable faithfully flat map between commutative rings of cardinality ℵω$\aleph _{\omega }$ within Zermelo ...

Hysteresis of haptic vertical and straight ahead in healthy human subjects
Background The subjective haptic vertical (SHV) task requires subjects to adjust the roll orientation of an object, mostly in the roll plane, in such a way that it is parallel to perceived direction of gravity.
