Determining Vulnerability of the Rozeh Chay Aquifer in the Urmia Plain, Using the Combination Method of DRASTIC, SINSTAC and SI Indexes [PDF]

open access: yesپژوهش‌های آبخیزداری, 2020
The Rozeh Chay Plain is located on the western margin of the Urmia Lake. The shallow groundwater table, agricultural activities, and particularly the use of fertilizers and pesticides may lead to the groundwater contamination.

Heat transport and spin-charge separation in the normal state of high temperature superconductors

open access: yes, 2000
Hill et al. have recently measured both the thermal and charge conductivities in the normal state of a high temperature superconductor. Based on the vanishing of the Wiedemann-Franz ratio in the extrapolated zero temperature limit, they conclude that the

Destruction of the Kondo effect in a multi-channel Bose-Fermi Kondo model

open access: yes, 2004
We consider the SU(N) x SU(kappa N) generalization of the spin-isotropic Bose-Fermi Kondo model in the limit of large N. There are three fixed points corresponding to a multi-channel non-Fermi liquid phase, a local spin-liquid phase, and a Kondo ...

Sputter Deposition of Transition Metal Oxides on Silicon: Evidencing the Role of Oxygen Bombardment for Fermi‐Level Pinning

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 216, Issue 23, December 2019., 2019
Growth of transition metal oxides on oxidized silicon substrates opens the possibility for new device structures. Reactive sputtering of the oxide deteriorates the Si/SiO2 surface passivation. Decoupling the oxidation step from the sputter deposition of the metal can alleviate this difficulty and results in superior Si/SiO2/TMO junctions.

Spin Dynamics in the Normal State of High T_c Superconductors

open access: yes, 1993
We summarize our recent theoretical studies on the spin dynamics in the normal state of the metallic cuprates. The contrasting wave vector dependence of the dynamical spin structure factor $S({\bf q}, \omega )$ in LaSrCuO and YBaCuO systems are ...

Improving interruption performance of mechanical circuit breakers by controlling pre‐current‐zero wave shape

open access: yesHigh Voltage, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 122-129, June 2019., 2019
Mechanical circuit breakers (MCBs) are the limiting component for current injection HVDC circuit breakers. Improving their interruption performance reduces requirements for capacitance and inductance needed in the injection circuit and thus space use and costs.

Fermi Surface and Magnetism in the Kondo lattice: A Continuum Field Theory Approach

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the Fermi surface inside the antiferromagnetic ordered region of a Kondo lattice system in an arbitrary dimension higher than one. We establish the existence of ${\rm AF_S}$, an antiferromagnetic phase whose Fermi surface is ``small,'' in the

Evaluating suitable semiconducting materials for cryogenic power electronics

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2019, Issue 17, Page 4475-4479, June 2019., 2019
The interest in hybrid electric aircraft has invigorated research into superconducting power networks and superconducting electrical machines. Underpinning this is the ability to control the flow of electrical current at cryogenic temperatures, using power electronic devices.
