Impact of the Si Electrode Morphology and of the Added Li‐Salt on the SEI Formed Using EMIFSI‐Based Ionic‐Liquid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2025.
The early‐stage formation and evolution of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on binder‐free silicon electrodes is investigated by advanced spectroscopic techniques and controlled galvanostatic cycling. The influence of electrode crystallinity and morphology on passivation film composition and thickness is demonstrated, offering valuable insights ...

Continuous provision of synthetic inertia with wind turbines: implications for the wind turbine and for the grid

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 13, Issue 5, Page 668-675, April 2019., 2019
In future power systems with little system inertia, grid operators will require the provision of synthetic inertia (SI) from renewable energy sources. Unlike today, grid operators may require continuous provision of SI. This can lead to an unwanted disconnection of wind turbine generators (WTGs) from the grid, and has the potential to cause a ...

5009‐ppi, 10000‐cd/m2, OLED/OS/Si structure display with built‐in CPU and display driver

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 314-323, May 2025.
This study developed a 5,009‐ppi, 10,000‐cd/m2 organic light‐emitting diode display featuring c‐axis‐aligned crystalline oxide semiconductor field‐effect transistors (FETs) monolithically stacked over silicon (Si) FETs. It was demonstrated that a built‐in central processing unit (Cortex‐M0) enables amplifier offset compensation and that functional ...

Influence of the clamping force on the power cycling lifetime reliability of press pack IGBT sub‐module

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2019, Issue 16, Page 2435-2439, March 2019., 2019
The clamping force is the most important parameter of Press Pack IGBTs (PP IGBTs) as it not only affects the electrical, thermal, and mechanical characteristic, but also the long lifetime reliability. Too little clamping force increases the contact resistance and junction temperature.

Epitaxial growth of CoSi2 layer on a Si(100) substrate using a CoNx interlayer deposited by reactive sputtering

open access: yes, 2006
A new method for growing an epitaxial CoSi2 layer has been studied. In the proposed approach, CoNx film is used as an interlayer. From the Co/CoNx/Si structure, a uniform CoSi2 layer was epitaxially grown on a Si (100) substrate.

Rolled up si-based three dimensional micro-/nanostructures for MEMS/NEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, by combination of the “top down” and “bottom up” approaches, a new strategy to fabricate 3D micro-/nanostructures named self-scrolling technique has been introduced by Prinz et al. in 1999.

Silicon-induced increase in chlorophyll is modulated by the leaf water potential in two water-deficient tomato cultivars

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2012
This study aims to explain the effects of silicon on chlorophyll and to measure gas exchange and carbohydrate levels in two Lycopersicon esculentum cultivars that are exposed to drought.

Large Area Epitaxial Lateral Overgrowth of Semipolar (11¯$1 \left(\right. \macr \left.\right)$01) GaN Stripes on Patterned Si Substrates Prepared using Maskless Lithography

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 261, Issue 11, November 2024.
The growth of semipolar (11¯01$1101 \left(\right. \macr \left.\right)$) GaN stripes and InGaN LED structure on patterned Si substrate is demonstrated by applying mature Si processing techniques. This method enables the large‐scale Si substrate patterning required for semipolar GaN growth and is expected to be applied to the mass production of semipolar

Bionic boron/silicon‐modified phenolic resin system with multifunctional groups: synthesis, thermal properties and ablation mechanism

open access: yesBiosurface and Biotribology, Volume 4, Issue 3, Page 85-93, September 2018., 2018
A kind of silicon‐and‐boron‐modified phenolic–formaldehyde resin (SBPF) with excellent thermal stability was fabricated via a simple two‐step method and used for the matrix of ablation materials. The structure and thermal stability of the modified phenolic–formaldehyde resins (PFs) were characterised.
