Performance Estimation of a Downsized SI Engine Running with Hydrogen
Hydrogen is a carbon-free fuel that can be produced in many ways starting from different sources. Its use as a fuel in internal combustion engines could be a method of significantly reducing their environmental impact.

Band-engineered Ge-on-Si lasers [PDF]
We report optically-pumped Ge-on-Si lasers with direct gap emission near 1600 nm at room temperature. The Ge-on-Si material was band-engineered by tensile strain and n-type doping to compensate the energy difference between direct and indirect band gaps for efficient light emission. Modeling of Ge/Si double heterojunction LEDs shows that it is possible

Controlling LPG temperature for SI engine applications
Abstract In this study, the effects of the LPG temperature on the engine performance and the exhaust emission characteristics have been investigated experimentally on an SI engine. In conventional injection systems, the LPG temperature increases excessively during the phase change in pressure regulator, and reduces the engine volumetric efficiency ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Investigation of excitation force on noise and vibration caused by combustion in a gasoline engine
This study focused on the piston system and targeted vehicle interior noise caused by combustion, which is mainly due to vibration transmission in the high-speed, high-load region.
