Counting glomeruli in human kidney specimens using ex vivo MRI without contrast agents
Abstract Purpose The total number of glomeruli is an important indicator of kidney function and susceptibility to disease. Glomeruli, however, are difficult to image using MRI without contrast enhancement. For this reason, previous studies have used cationic ferritin as a contrast agent to detect glomeruli in ex vivo and in vivo perfused kidneys.

Beyond FimH: Diversity and Relevance of Carbohydrate‐Binding Fimbrial Proteins in Escherichia coli
This review discusses fimbrial lectins found in Escherichia coli (E. coli) other than FimH, which could be targeted to treat E. coli pathogenicity as an alternative to antibiotic treatment. Escherichia coli (E. coli) is responsible for multiple diseases in humans and animals.

Transthyretin is a metallopeptidase with an inducible active site [PDF]
TTR (transthyretin) was found recently to possess proteolytic competency besides its well-known transport capabilities. It was described as a cryptic serine peptidase cleaving multiple natural substrates (including beta-amyloid and apolipoprotein A-I ...

This study highlights comparative proteomic and morphological analyses of HMC3 and C20 microglial cell lines under baseline and inflammatory stimuli (LPS and IFN‐γ). Despite a 76.6% similarity in proteins, unstimulated HMC3 showed a transcriptional cell protein profile, whereas unstimulated C20 had a cell protein profile associated with the immune ...

Screening colorectal tumors for glycoproteins linked to disease progression has revealed several potential therapeutic targets. The secretin receptor (SCTR), identified as a marker of poor prognosis and metastasis in colorectal cancer, has been shown to be a key carrier of N‐glycans with sialylated Lewis antigens. These cancer‐specific glycoproteoforms
