Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Fractional Occupation Numbers and SIC-Scaling Methods with the Fermi-Lowdin Orbital SIC Approach
We derive an alternate expression for the Fermi-Lowdin Orbital Self-Interaction Correction (FLO-SIC) energy gradient and re-visit how the FLO-SIC methodology can be seen as a constrained unitary transformation acting on canonical Kohn-Sham orbitals.

Ultra‐Confinement of Polaritons in Single Atomic Layer Ag Photonic Quantum Dots
Strong confinement of surface phonon polaritons of silicon carbide was achieved in photonic quantum dots fabricated from van der Waals heterostructure of epitaxial graphene over single‐atomic layer silver. Scattering‐type scanning near‐field optical microscopy combined with an analytical approach, developed to reveal local propagation constants with ...

Uniform monolayer Cr2Ge2Te6 films are achieved on Si substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Intrinsic ferromagnetism with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is established in the films by anomalous Hall effect and superconducting quantum interference device measurements, albeit with strong magnetic fluctuations characteristic of its 2D nature.

Large thermoelectric effects in p-SiC/p-Si and n-SiC/p-Si heterojunctions [PDF]
The thermoelectric effect is important for thermal sensing, energy harvesting and other applications. This paper investigates the Seebeck coefficient of silicon carbide (SiC) on silicon (Si) heterojunctions and discusses the mechanism underlying the ...
