The first geological use of side‐scan sonar
Geology Today, 1992Side‐scan sonar is now a sophisticated tool providing high‐quality data on the ocean floor. In its early days, however, it gave discouraging results, and for many years it seemed as if it would never provide useful geological information at all.

Side scan sonar image formation, restoration and modelling
1996The research described in this thesis was carried out in collaboration with Geoteam - Wimpol UK Ltd., between the October 1992 and October 1995 at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. The work deals principally with the development of processing algorithms for sonar image enhancement. The thesis is divided into two principal parts.
