Sign changing solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equations

open access: yesTopological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis, 1999
The authors consider the problem \[ -\Delta u+ b(x)u= f(x, u),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^n,\quad u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^n), \] without imposing any symmetry condition on the dependence of \(b(\cdot)\) and \(f(\cdot,u)\) on \(x\). Roughly speaking, \(f\) is assumed to be superlinear and subcritical and to satisfy the sign condition \(u\cdot f(x,u)> 0\), while ...

Least energy sign-changing solutions for the nonlinear Schrodinger-Poisson system

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
This article concerns the existence of the least energy sign-changing solutions for the Schrodinger-Poisson system $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u+V(x)u+\lambda\phi(x)u=f(u),\quad \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3,\cr -\Delta\phi=u^2,\quad \text{in } \mathbb{R}^3.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Beyond the classical strong maximum principle: Sign-changing forcing term and flat solutions

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
We show that the classical strong maximum principle, concerning positive supersolutions of linear elliptic equations vanishing on the boundary of the domain can be extended, under suitable conditions, to the case in which the forcing term is sign ...

Positive solutions for semilinear elliptic systems with sign-changing potentials

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2016
In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem -Δu = λ p(x)f(u; v) ; -Δv = λ q(x)g(u; v); in D, and u = v = 0 on ∂∞D, where D ⊂ Rn (n ≥ 3) is an C1,1-domain with compact boundary and λ > 0. The potential functions p;

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Some Results of Positive Solutions for a Beam Equation with Multi-Point Boundary Conditions

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we give some results on the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of fourth-order multi-point boundary value problems with a sign-changing Green’s function.
