Cancer-associated fibroblasts gene signature: a novel approach to survival prediction and immunotherapy guidance in colon cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundFibroblasts can regulate tumour development by secreting various factors. For COAD survival prediction and CAFs-based treatment recommendations, it is critical to comprehend the heterogeneity of CAFs and find biomarkers.MethodsWe identified ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

New and revised gene ontology biological process terms describe multiorganism interactions critical for understanding microbial pathogenesis and sequences of concern

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Semantics
Background There is a new framework from the United States government for screening synthetic nucleic acids. Beginning in October of 2026, it calls for the screening of sequences 50 nucleotides or greater in length that are known to contribute to ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

The Reliability of Smartphone and Goniometric Measurements of Hip Range of Motion

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation Sciences and Research, 2016
Background: Range of motion is an essential component of the hip examination. Handling issues with the goniometer often create challenges when measuring hip passive range of motion (PROM).

Unique genetic signatures in HIV-1 subtype A1 and A1D recombinant envelope glycoprotein distinguish contemporary transmitted/founder viruses from historical strains in East Africa

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
IntroductionThe envelope glycoprotein (Env) of HIV-1 Transmitted/Founder (T/F) viruses in subtypes B and C carries distinct genetic signatures that enhance transmission fitness, augment infectivity and immune evasion.
