Basalt fibers (BFs) were surface-treated with a vinyl triethoxy silane coupling agent to improve the mechanical properties of wood fiber-reinforced high density polyethylene (HDPE) composites. Basalt fibers were characterized with SEM and FT-IR.

Biodegradable transparent wood was fabricated by introducing epoxy resin E51 modified with the silane coupling agent (KH550) into bleached poplar veneer. The light transmittance of transparent wood was modulated by KH550 content.
