Stable, Water-Borne Silane Coupling Agents

open access: yes, 1991
This paper reviews kinetic and mechanistic aspects of silane hydrolysis and describes a new series of water-borne silanes. These new coupling agents have been prepared with a wide range of functionality for compatibility with mist common resin systems. Performance data which compares these aqueous-borne silanes with conventional silane coupling agents ...

Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

Timing Mechanotransduction: Mechanically Dynamic Biomaterials Reveal the Temporal Hierarchy of YAP/TAZ Control Nodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops dynamically softening polyacrylamide hydrogels for time‐resolved imaging during continuous mechanical transitions. The study revealed that mechanotransduction is biphasic; YAP/TAZ inactivation is driven by early loss of the nucleocytoskeletal continuum connecting subnuclear adhesions, F‐actin, and the nuclear envelope, coupled with ...

Novel hybrid flax reinforced supersap composites in automotive applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Flax fibre bio-epoxy composites have not found many commercial uses in structural applications on account of their lack of cost efficiency and high susceptibility to environmental changes. Non-woven flax mats were subjected to alkali, acetylation, silane

Radical‐Mediated, Substrate‐Independent Fabrication of Hybrid Solid–Hydrogel Materials With Tunable Crosslinking: An Initiator‐ and Crosslinker‐Free Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a substrate‐independent, reagent‐free plasma strategy that forms radical‐rich interlayers for covalent hydrogel attachment without initiators or crosslinkers. The long‐lived radicals drive in situ gelation, creating robust, cytocompatible hybrid solid–hydrogel constructs across diverse substrates.

Bonding mechanisms of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic/aluminum alloy interface during friction lap welding via silane coupling treatment

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Silane coupling pretreatment could usually increase the strength of metal/plastic-based material joints, however, the detailed chemical bonding mechanism has not been clarified so far, which has become a key bottleneck for the further expanding ...

One-bottle silane coupling agent containing 4-META

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 2013
The effectiveness of commercial and experimental silane coupling agents was evaluated by measuring their shear bond strengths to a ceramic disk. Experimental one-bottle silane coupling agents were prepared using 3-MPTS, 4-META, and resin monomers. The surfaces of two ceramic disks (IPS e-max, Ivoclar Vivadent AG, Schaan, Lichtenstein) were treated by a

Piperazine‐Functionalized Nanoparticles Enable Oral Insulin Delivery in Obese Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biologics have gained prominence as a rapidly advancing therapeutic modality for a diverse spectrum of medical conditions. Nonetheless, they are predominantly administered parenterally due to poor absorption through the gastrointestinal tract. Additionally, repeated injections of biologics such as insulin cause injection pain, leading to dose ...

Polyelectrolyte Design Principles for Electrophoretic Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Structure–property–function mapping of polyelectrolytes reveals how composition and nanoscale order control on‐demand electrophoretic drug transport. Charge density quantified under implant‐relevant conditions shows that encapsulation limits swelling, enabling high effective charge density.
