The Elephant Trunk Skin Inspires a Highly Sensitive and Deformable, Yet Robust, Armor Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study presents the elephant trunk‐inspired armor skin with tactile sensing (ETATS). The ETATS architecture stretches and compresses while resisting puncture and tear, and it enables optical detection of pressure and lateral strain. Morphology‐based decoupling of strain and pressure paves the way to sensitive and deformable, yet robust, soft‐robotic

Quantifying Strain and Its Effect on Charge Transport in Ge/Si Core/Shell Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates strain engineering in Ge/Si core–shell nanowires (CS NWs) by tuning the Ge core‐Si shell dimensions. Polarization‐resolved µ‐Raman and geometrical phase analysis quantify the resulting strain. Electronic transport measurements demonstrate record hole mobilities up to 25 400 cm2/Vs, highlighting these Ge/Si CS NWs as a promising ...

Advanced Dental Composite Technology via Bisilanized Dual‐Action Nanofillers for Biofilm Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multimodal research strategy has led to the development of an innovative resin‐based composite (RBC) with dual antibacterial action. The S_CM‐RBC formula showed strong antibiofilm activity, excellent mechanical strength, and biosafety. It effectively controlled oral bacteria in prevention of caries recurrence, and maintained pulp health in a rat ...

Silane Coupling Agent for Rubber Usage

open access: yesNIPPON GOMU KYOKAISHI, 2009
Silane coupling agent (CA), as an additive for rubber, plays an important role in the silica-filled rubber. In the case of the application to tire tread rubber, CA improves physical properties, not only rolling resistance but also wet grip properties. Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is used as an activator for the vulcanization of rubber containing white ...
