Effects of sildenafil citrate on human hemodynamics

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1999
Nitric oxide (NO) induces the formation of intracellular cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) by guanylate cyclase. Sildenafil, which selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) found predominantly in the corpora cavernosa of the penis, effectively blocks the degradation of cGMP and enhances erectile function in men with erectile dysfunction.

Effect of Sildenafil Citrate on Postprandial Gallbladder Motility

Southern Medical Journal, 2006
Sildenafil stimulates the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO-cGMP) pathway through inhibition of type 5 phosphodiesterase. NO-cGMP pathway causes smooth muscle relaxation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of sildenafil on gallbladder motility.Twenty healthy male volunteers (21-35 years old) participated in this randomized ...

Sildenafil Citrate Ingestion in a Pediatric Patient

Pediatric Emergency Care, 2004
Sildenafil citrate is the first FDA-approved oral agent for male erectile dysfunction. Common adverse effects include flushing, headache, and dyspepsia, although more serious side effects have been reported. Because of its specific therapeutic indication, sildenafil toxicity has been limited almost exclusively to adults. We report a symptomatic case of

Pharmacology of sildenafil citrate.

Indian journal of physiology and pharmacology, 1999
Erectile dysfunction is a common and multi-factorial disease that strongly impairs the quality of life in men. During the past decade, many new therapeutic strategies have become available. But the need for oral treatment was strongly felt. This need appears to have been fulfilled with the introduction of sildenafil.

Sildenafil Citrate Therapy for Oligohydramnios

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2017
OBJECTIVE: To compare sildenafil plus hydration with hydration alone in improving the amniotic fluid index and neonatal outcomes in pregnancies complicated by idiopathic oligohydramnios ( amniotic fluid index less than 5 cm without underlying maternal or fetal causes and with normal fetal growth).

FIA of sildenafil citrate using UV-detection

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2001
A flow injection analysis (FIA) of sildenafil citrate (SLD) using UV detection is described in this study. The best solvent system was found to be consisting of 0.2 M phosphate buffer at pH 8 having 10% MeOH. A flow rate of 1 ml. min(-1) was pumped and active material was detected at 292 nm.

Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) complexes with bivalent ions

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2006
The interaction of Ca(2+)-ions with sildenafil citrate (Viagra) leads to the precipitation of a new polymorph variety of sildenafil base. Under the same conditions, Mg(2+), Zn(2+), and Cd(2+) ions form structurally related crystalline complexes of the composition Me(2+)C(28)H(34)N(6)O(11)S. Lattice parameters have been determined showing that magnesium

Effects of Sildenafil Citrate (Viagra) on Choroidal Congestion

Ophthalmologica, 2002
This study evaluates the effect of sildenafil on choroidal vascular congestion and its correlation with visual effects. Thirteen healthy subjects were randomized to a sildenafil group (n = 7, 3 M, 4 F), who received 200 mg of sildenafil, and a control (n = 6, 5 F, 1 M) group, who received no drug.
