Competing Pathways in Heme Catalyzed Oxidations With Porphyrin‐Centered Reactivity
ChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2026.Heme‐catalyzed oxidations proceeding through porphyrin‐centered reactivity are quite rare. In attempts to optimize the catalytic umpolung of chloride proceeding via an isoporphyrin, we found a competing pathway. The iron(III) π‐dication readily performs alternative reactivity, leading to a bifurcation in reaction mechanisms at this point.
