Polyaniline-coated silica gel

European Polymer Journal, 2002
Abstract Silica gel microspheres 7 and 15 μm in diameter were coated with an overlayer of polyaniline camphorsulfonate or hydrochloride during the oxidative polymerization of aniline. Coated silica gel and polyaniline precipitate were separated using a difference in sedimentation rate.

Flame retardant mechanism of silica gel/silica

Fire and Materials, 2000
Various types of silica, silica gel, fumed silicas and fused silica were added to polypropylene and polyethylene oxide to determine their flame retardant effectiveness and mechanisms. Polypropylene was chosen as a non-char-forming thermoplastic and polyethylene oxide was chosen as a polar char-forming (slight) thermoplastic.

Toroidal microporous silica gel

Journal of Materials Science, 1979
Microporous amorphous silica gel with a characteristic toroidal form of the elementary particles, has been prepared by thermal dissociation of a solution of silicic acid in a spray dryer. The substance obtained was investigated by electron microscopy, infra-red spectroscopy and thermal analysis.

Zone electrophoresis in silica gel and silica paste

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1960
Abstract Silica gel and silica paste have been used as anticonvection media in zone electrophoresis. Rapid methods for preparing gels and pastes containing the appropriate electrophoretic buffer, and their use in zone electrophoresis, are given.

Viscoelasticity in silica gel

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1988
Abstract The elastic modulus, modulus of rupture (MOR), and viscosity of wet silica gels were measured as functions of age of the gels, using a beam-bending method. The gels were prepared by acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) with a water/TEOS ratio of 16/1.

Syneresis in Silica Gel

MRS Proceedings, 1988
ABSTRACTThe driving force for syneresis is generally attributed to the same chemical reactions that produce gelation, but it has also been proposed that shrinkage could be driven by interracial energy. The latter possibility is explored and discounted. The kinetics of syneresis depend on the driving force, the mobility of the gel network, and the rate ...
