Interaction of Ascorbic Acid with Silicic Acid
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1970Interaction of ascorbic acid with silicic acid in the solid state was studied using diffuse reflectance spectroscopic techniques. Surface degradation products from ascorbic acid breakdown were effectively observed using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, whereas the corresponding transmittance spectral method did not give significant information ...

Degradation of DNA by silicic acid
Mutation Research Letters, 1984S1 nuclease hydrolysis and hydroxyapatite chromatography were used to study the effect of silicic acid on DNA. Native calf thymus DNA was incubated with increasing concentrations of silicic acid (DNA nucleotide/silicic acid molar ratios of 1:0.25, 1:0.5 and 1:1) and subjected to S1 nuclease hydrolysis.

Silicic acid: The omniscient molecule
Science of The Total Environment, 2019We contend that silicic acid is a much under-valued molecule and specifically in the context of its role in establishing and maintaining life on Earth. Silicic acid can also be an ill-understood molecule with its chemistry all too often confused with that of either silicates or silica.

Interaction of silicic acid with goethite
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2007The adsorption of Si on goethite (alpha-FeOOH) has been studied in batch experiments that cover the natural range of Si concentrations as found in the environment. The results have been interpreted and quantified with the charge distribution (CD) and multi-site surface complexation (MUSIC) model in combination with an extended Stern (ES) layer model ...

Preparation of transfer ribonucleic acid with silicic acid
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1972Abstract A modification of the nondenaturing procedure of Sueoka and Hardy (1) for the isolation of transfer ribonucleic acid is described. This procedure has been used for the large scale isolation of transfer-RNA from extracts of Escherichia coli and involves a batch treatment with silicic acid, DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, and an ...

Derivatives of silicic acids as model compounds for silicates
Physics and Chemistry of Minerals, 1988Silicon-29 chemical shifts of methyl, ethyl, chloro and trimethylsilyl derivatives of silicic acids are compared to those of silicic acid anions found in aqueous solutions. Although the chemical shifts of the silicate anions vary with pH and concentration, a good correlation is obtained for the chloro and alkoxi derivatives.

Aqueous Silicic Acid, Silicates and Silicate Complexes
1978The paper aims at giving a brief review of the aqueous chemistry of silicic acid, silicates and silicate complexes. In particular, problems concerning equilibria and structures are discussed. In addition geochemical data of silicon and silicon distribution on the earth crust will be briefly presented.
