Modified Effective Carrier Density in SOI-MESFET With an Asymmetric Dielectric Trapdoor

open access: yesIET Circuits, Devices and Systems
In this paper, a new silicon-on-insulator-metal semiconductor field effect transistor (SOI-MESFET) is introduced with improved DC and RF characteristics compared to conventional SOI-MESFETs (C-SOI-MESFETs).

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

150 mm Silicon-on-polycrystalline-Silicon Carbide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
150 mm Silicon-on-polycrystallin-Silicon Carbie (poly-SiC) bybrid substrate, without intermediate oxide layers have been realised by hydrophilic wafer bonding of SOI- and poly-SiC wafers. A novel rapid thermal treatment step was introduced before furnace

DESIGN OF A POLARIZATION-INDEPENDENT MMI SOI COUPLER BASED MICRORESONATOR USING SANDWICH STRUCTURES [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2013
A microresonator based on multimode interference (MMI) couplers using sandwich structures is described in this paper. The birefringence can be controlled by introducing an additional dielectric layer within a silicon channel waveguide. It is shown that a

Charge carrier injection and trapping in the buried oxides of SOI structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The electron injection processes in the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) devices affect strongly the reliability of device operation [1]. Usually the buried oxide (BOX)/silicon film interface shows worse structural and electrical properties than that of the ...

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.
