The silicon detectors in the UA2 experiment
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1989Abstract We present the characteristics and the performance of a large area silicon hodoscope in the upgraded UA2 experiment. The main purpose of this detector is to provide an energy loss measurement, thus helping to identify single electrons against a background of unresolved e + e − pairs from photon conversions and π 0 Dalitz decays.

Radiation damage in silicon detectors
La Rivista Del Nuovo Cimento Series 3, 1994This work presents an overview of the most important mechanisms of radiation damage in silicon detectors to be used for high energy experiments in LHC. The changes in the shallow concentration have been studied by thermally stimulated currents (TSC) after proton and neutron irradiation with fluences up to 10/sup 15/ cm/sup -2/ to investigate the role ...

A Silicon Vertex Detector for CDF
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1986The major reason for building a vertex detector for CDF is the tagging of decay vertices of particles with lifetime in the 10-13/10-12 sec. range. This is a complementary approach to heavy flavour physics with respect to missing Et and large Pt leptons.

A monolithic silicon detector telescope
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1996Abstract An ultrathin silicon detector (1 μm) thick implanted on a standard 400 μm Si-detector has been built to realize a monolithic telescope detector for simultaneous charge and energy determination of charged particles. The performances of the telescope have been tested using standard alpha sources and fragments emitted in nuclear reactions with ...

Detector capacitance of silicon microstrip detector
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1992Abstract A capacitance property of a silicon microstrip detector was investigated with a solid state device simulator PISCES II-B. Special attention was paid to the electrode configuration and the radiation effect on the capacitance property.

Large-size silicon detectors employing relatively low resistivity material can be used in electrcmagnetic calorimetry. They can operate in strong magnetic fields, under geometric constraints and with microstrip detectors a high resolution can be achieved.

2003 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium. Conference Record (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37515), 2004
The rapid progress of the past 20 years in silicon radiation detectors is reviewed. The availability of silicon as an almost ideal semiconductor material is one of the main reasons for this progress. The well-defined properties of the silicon-silicon dioxide interface allowed the development of detector structures beyond the structure of a classical ...

Tracking With Silicon Detectors
1989An overview of silicon tracking devices is done. It covers the vertex detectors for fixed target experiments and for the newly built colliders. The requirements for the future machines and some of the new ideas are also presented. In this picture the contributions to this conference are included.
