Reliability characterization of MEMS switch using MIM test structures

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Systems and Information Technology, 2014
Silicon nitride thin film dielectrics are used in capacitive radio frequency micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) switches since they provide a low insertion loss, good isolation, and low return loss.

Fatigue life of high-speed ball bearings with silicon nitride balls [PDF]

open access: yes
Hot-pressed silicon nitride was evaluated as a rolling-element bearing material. The five-ball fatigue tester was used to test 12.7-mm- diameter silicon nitride balls at maximum Hertz stresses ranging from 4.27 x 10 to the 9th power n/sq m to 6.21 x 10 ...

Giant optical activity in dielectric planar metamaterials with 2D chirality

open access: yes, 2006
For the first time, all-dielectric planar chiral metamaterials consisting of arrays of silicon nitride gammadions on fused silica substrates have been fabricated, and shown to be capable of inducing large changes to the polarization states of transmitted

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Enhancement of Optoelectronic Properties of Multicrystalline Silicon Using Al-NPs and SiNx Layer

open access: yesCrystals
In this study, we investigated and compared the influence of alumina nanoparticles (Al-NPs) and silicon nitride (SiNx) layers individually deposited on multi-crystalline silicon (mc-Si) on mc-Si’s structural, optical, and optoelectronic characteristics ...

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.
