TRITIUM - A Quasi Real-Time Low Activity Tritium Monitor for Water [PDF]
Tritium is released abundantly to the environment by nuclear power plants (NPP), as a product of neutron capture by hydrogen and deuterium. In normal running conditions, released cooling waters may contain levels of tritium close to or even larger than ...

Silicon Photomultipliers for Neutrino Telescopes
Neutrino astronomy has opened a new window to the extreme Universe, entering into a fruitful era built upon the success of neutrino telescopes, which have already given a new step forward in this novel and growing field by the first observation of steady point-like sources already achieved by IceCube.

Modeling crosstalk in silicon photomultipliers [PDF]
Optical crosstalk seriously limits the photon-counting resolution of silicon photomultipliers. In this work, realistic analytical models to describe the crosstalk effects on the response of these photodetectors are presented and compared with experimental data.

Study of Scintillator Strip with Wavelength Shifting Fiber and Silicon Photomultiplier
The performance of the $200\times2.5\times1$ cm$^3$ plastic scintillator strip with wavelength shifting fiber read-out by two novel photodetectors called Silicon PhotoMultipliers (SiPMs) is discussed.

Silicon photomultiplier timing performance study [PDF]
Many characteristics of Silicon Photomultipliers can be tuned with temperature and operation voltage. We present preliminary results of a study of the effect of these two operation parameters on the time resolution of large active area Multi-Pixel Photon Counters (MPPCs) manufactured by Hamamatsu.

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Comparison of neutron/gamma separation qualities of various organic scintillation materials [PDF]
In this work we compare the pulse-shape discrimination (PSD) properties of EJ-299-33A, BC-501A, stilbene, p-terphenyl and Hidex Aqualight in neutron field generated by the LVR-15 reactor with silicon filter utilization.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Two-photon imaging with silicon photomultipliers
We compared performance of recently developed silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) to GaAsP photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) for two-photon imaging of neural activity. Despite higher dark counts, SiPMs match or exceed the signal-to-noise ratio of PMTs at photon rates encountered in typical calcium imaging experiments due to their low pulse height variability ...
