First Images of a Three-layer Compton Telescope Prototype for Treatment Monitoring in Hadron Therapy

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2016
A Compton telescope for dose monitoring in hadron therapy is under development at IFIC. The system consists of three layers of LaBr3 crystals coupled to silicon photomultiplier arrays.

A Boost Converter Employing Quadratic Sawtooth Waveform Generator for SiPM-Based Radiation Sensors

open access: yesChemosensors, 2021
This paper proposes an optimized step-up power converter using a quadratic sawtooth waveform generator for a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) used as a radiation sensor for mobile radiation dosimeters.

Advances in Halide Perovskites for Photon Radiation Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights recent progress in perovskite‐based photon radiation detectors, covering organic–inorganic hybrid, inorganic, lead‐free double, and vacancy‐ordered halide perovskites. Their detection performance is compared, material‐specific advantages and challenges are examined, and provides insight into current limitations and future ...

Performance evaluation of novel SiPM for medical imaging applications [PDF]

open access: yes
Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) detectors are investigated world-wide as a suitable replacement for the conventional vacuum based PhotoMultiplier Tube (PMT) and are enabling applications otherwise not possible with PMT detectors.

Characterization of Droplet Formation in Ultrasonic Spray Coating: Influence of Ink Formulation Using Phase Doppler Anemometry and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study explores how machine learning models, trained on small experimental datasets obtained via Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA), can accurately predict droplet size (D32) in ultrasonic spray coating (USSC). By capturing the influence of ink complexity (solvent, polymer, nanoparticles), power, and flow rate, the model enables precise droplet control

Correlated noise analysis and breakdown voltage distribution measurement, modelling of silicon photomultipliers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A 80-as évek végén Golovin és Sadygov által javasolt pixelizált Geiger-módban működő lavina fotodiódák, más néven a szilícium alapú fotoelektron-sokszorozók (silicon photomultiplier, SiPM), számos olyan tulajdonsággal bírnak, amelyek alkalmassá teszik ...

Experimental test of magnetic photons

open access: yes, 2004
A "magnetic" photon hypothesis associated with magnetic monopoles is tested experimentally. These photons are predicted to easily penetrate metal. Experimentally the optical transmittance T of a metal foil was less than 2 x 10^-17.

Selective Charge Extraction Allows Fast Photomultiplication and Imaging in Rigid and Ultra‐Flexible SWIR Organic Photodiodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
SWIR donor polymer TQ‐3T allows photomultiplication in OPD in 1:1 ratio with NFA Y6, achieving EQEs > 1100% at ‐10 V. Microseconds response times are retained, amongst the lowest for photomultiplication. As proof of concept, we demonstrate ultrathin and flexible PM‐OPDs based on our TQ‐3T:Y6 as a flexible pulse oximeter as well as a conformable image ...

Degradation Mechanisms of Rutile‐Type TiO2 Photoanodes during Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Combining operando dissolution measurements with microscopy and spectroscopy characterizations, we reveal different degradation mechanisms of rutile‐type TiO2 photoanodes during photoelectrochemical water splitting. In acidic electrolytes, degradation is inhibited once TiO2 reaches saturation.
