Echographic Diagnosis after Intraocular Silicone Oil Injection
1981The treatment of severe retinal detachment and of massive vitreous retraction by injection of silicone oil into the vitreous cavity has become a routine surgical procedure in many ophthalmological centers. The early work of Cibis, et al. (1962) has been convincingly brought into new light by Scott (1975, 1977), who combined the injection method with ...

IDENTIFICATION OF SILICONE OIL IN THE RETINA AFTER INTRAVITREAL INJECTION
Retina, 1992Retinal tissue obtained from 2 eyes that had been injected with silicone oil for 2 years was stained with monoclonal antibodies against macrophages and studied by light and electron microscopy and energy-dispersive x-ray analysis. Both specimens showed areas with a relatively intact architecture as well as parts with loss of normal structure.

Electroretinogram and Electrooculogram of Eyes with Intravitreously Injected Silicone Oil
Ophthalmologica, 1983In clinical and in vitro conditions, the effect of intravitreously injected silicone oil upon the electroretinogram and electrooculogram was investigated. The recorded potentials were lower in the eyes with silicone oil compared to those in which the retinas were reattached without silicone. Retinal changes, caused by the previously existing detachment

[Toxic substances with silicone oil after intraocular injections].
Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 1996In articles about the analysis of intraocular silicone oil, mostly the amount and toxicity of low-molecular-weight components (LMWC) have been investigated. This study was intended to analyze the components of silicone oil following a longer intraocular application. We analyzed silicone oil removed from human eyes with PVR a few months postoperatively.

Early anterior segment complications after silicone oil injection.
Canadian journal of ophthalmology. Journal canadien d'ophtalmologie, 1987We analyzed retrospectively 45 patients who had received silicone oil injection for vitreoretinal problems and divided them into three groups: aphakic patients who had undergone an extracapsular cataract extraction (AEC), aphakic patients who had undergone an intracapsular cataract extraction (AIC) and phakic patients (PHA).

[Observations on vitrectomy with silicone oil injection].
[Zhonghua yan ke za zhi] Chinese journal of ophthalmology, 1994Silicone oils were injected in 37 eyes of 37 patients among 95 patients performed vitrectomy during 1988-1990. The indication was complicated retinal detachment except for 2 cases of diabetic proliferative retinopathy and vitreous hemorrhage. In 29 (78.4%) of the 37 eyes, the retina was totally reattached, and in 7 eyes partially reattached that did ...
