Linseed protein concentrate as alternative to fishmeal in diets for silver catfish, Rhamdia quelen

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, 2021
A 60‐day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the substitution of fishmeal (FM) with linseed protein concentrate (LPC) in the diet of silver catfish, Rhamdia quelen (6.13 g).

Anesthesia of Epinephelus marginatus with essential oil of Aloysia polystachya: an approach on blood parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This study investigated the anesthetic potential of the essential oil (EO) of Aloysia polystachya in juveniles of dusky grouper (Epinephelus marginatus). Fish were exposed to different concentrations of EO of A.

Waterborne ammonia and silver catfish, Rhamdia quelen: survival and growth [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2011
The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of waterborne un-ionized ammonia (NH3) on the survival and growth of silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen). Juveniles were exposed to 0.10, 0.22, and 0.42mg L-1 NH3 at pH 8.2 for 45 days. After 15 days, a significant mortality rate (33%) was observed in the fish exposed to 0.42mg L-1 NH3.

Potentials of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) in freshwater ponds in Bangladesh

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2018
An experimental study was carried out for a period of six months to assess the potential of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA) in earthen freshwater ponds. Nine earthen ponds (40 m2 each) were randomly assigned to three treatments in triplicate.

DNA barcoding reveals micro-evolutionary changes and river system-level phylogeographic resolution of African silver catfish, Schilbe intermedius (Actinopterygii: Siluriformes: Schilbeidae) from seven populations across different African river systems [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2012
Background. Under the tropics, less than 40% of known fishes are identified to species-level. Further, the ongoing global change poses unprecedented threat to biodiversity, and several taxa are likely to go extinct even before they could be described ...

Evaluation of oregano essential oil as a growth promoter and resistance stimulator against Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (Protozoa, Ciliophora) in silver catfish juveniles, Rhamdia sp. (Siluriformes, Heptapteridae)

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2017
Agroecology-based aquaculture emerges as a particularly interesting production alternative for rural family farmers. In such systems, it is desirable to use means for enhancing the zootechnical performance and improving fish immune responses from natural
