Reduced intermolecular energy transfer on silver island films

Chemical Physics Letters, 1988
Abstract Radiationless energy transfer between high quantum efficiency donor and acceptor dye molecules is investigated for different distances between a silver island film and the dye laser by cw fluorescence spectroscopy. We observe reduced donor-acceptor energy transfer efficiency up to island-dye distances of 15 nm due to the enhanced radiative

Singlet Oxygen Phosphorescence Enhancement by Silver Islands Films

The Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2011
Optical detection of singlet oxygen, a reactive oxygen species that plays a crucial role in a variety of biomedical processes, is hampered by its extremely low emission probability. Using plasmonic effects induced in silver islands films coated with C60, we have been able to enhance the near-IR phosphorescence of singlet oxygen by a factor of ca.

Excitation spectra of surface-enhanced Raman scattering on silver-island films

Optics Letters, 1982
Both the spectral dependence and the magnitude of the excitation spectra of surface-enhanced Raman scattering are found to be quantitatively related to the absorption spectra for silver-island films. This relationship is maintained even when the local electromagnetic enhancement at the islands is varied by coating the film with a layer of absorbing dye

Flexible and optically transparent silver nano-islands film

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014
We report a cost effective and facile way to synthesize flexible, transparent conductor using oblique angle deposition (OAD). A flexible Ag islands film with transmittance of 28.02 % at 550 nm is obtained with only one step on Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate before stretching.

Optical properties of silver island films in the attenuated-total-reflection geometry

Applied Optics, 1986
The absorptances of 633-nm photons by silver island films formed on room temperature substrates were measured in an attenuated-total-reflection geometry by the photoacoustic method as a function of the angle of photon incidence. From the data obtained for s-polarized light ∊″, the effective dielectric function for the direction parallel to the film and

Application of plasmonic silver island films in thin-film silicon solar cells

Journal of Optics, 2012
Silver nanoparticles can be used as light scattering elements for enhancing solar cell energy conversion efficiencies. The objective of our work is to gain more insight into the optical properties of silver nanoparticle films and their effect on the performance of solar cells.

Enhanced absorption of Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers on silver island films

Thin Solid Films, 1989
Abstract Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of N,N ′-dioctadecyl rhodamine B (RhB derivative) were deposited on silver island films. The absorption spectra of the composite films were measured. Enhancement of the absorption was detected. The degree of enhancement decreased as the distance between the silver island film surface and the dye monolayers ...

Enhancement of the infrared absorption of methanol adsorbed on silver island films

Surface Science, 1999
Abstract Infrared absorption spectra for physisorbed methanol at 90 K on silver films of mass thicknesses 4–20 nm, deposited in UHV onto Ge substrate surfaces at 473 K, have been measured at normal incidence of radiation. The results show that the absorption intensity of the methanol C–O stretch mode depends on the mass thickness of silver film and ...

The effect of substrate vibration on mobility coalescence in silver island films

Thin Solid Films, 1997
Abstract We present the results of the investigations carried out on the effect of ultrasonic vibration of the substrate during deposition and during aging on the instabilities of island silver films deposited on glass held at room temperature in a vacuum of 2 × 10 −6 Torr.

Tunable surface-plasmon-resonance wavelength of silver island films

Chinese Physics B, 2010
This paper experimentally and theoretically investigates the effect of the underlayer medium on tuning of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) wavelength of silver island films, and the effect of substrate temperature on the morphologies and optical properties of the films.
