Rheology of silver nanocluster solutions under confinement

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2011
Abstract Drainage of solutions of silver (Ag) nano-clusters, pressed between the two apexes of a double-concaved drop situated in a capillary holder, was studied. The size of clusters was below 2 nm. The aqueous nano-suspension of Ag nano-clusters was stabilized by poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA).

Circularly polarized luminescence in chiral silver nanoclusters

Chemical Communications, 2017
Sets of mirror image circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) spectra are for the first time demonstrated using enantiomeric dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA)-capped silver nanoclusters.

s-Electron Ferromagnetism in Gold and Silver Nanoclusters

Nano Letters, 2007
Ferromagnetic (FM) ordering in transition-metal systems (solids, surface layers, nanoparticles) arises from partially filled d shells. Thus, recent observations of FM Au nanoclusters was unexpected, and an explanation has remained elusive. Here we report first-principles density-functional spin-polarized calculations for Au and Ag nanoclusters. We find

Nanoclusters of Silver and Gold Atoms

The Journal of Photographic Science, 1996
AbstractResults of recent state-of-the-art quantum mechanical calculations of the formation energies in vacuum at 0 K of Agn-1 i and Agn+ clusters for 3≤n≤9 allow dissociation energies of Agn+ clusters to be calculated. The values over this range of sizes are inconsistent with the chemical and photochemical processes proposed in the photo-aggregation ...

Controlled Deposition of Size-Selected Silver Nanoclusters

Science, 1996
Variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy was used to study the effect of kinetic cluster energy and rare-gas buffer layers on the deposition process of size-selected silver nanoclusters on a platinum(111) surface. Clusters with impact energies of ≤1 electron volt per atom could be landed nondestructively on the bare substrate, whereas at ...

On heterogeneity in fluorescent few-atom silver nanoclusters

Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2013
Fluorescent clusters of several Ag atoms are fluorophores with a large set of attractive properties including sub-nanometer size, high fluorescence quantum yield and large Stokes shift. When formed on polymeric scaffolds they exhibit a broad range of heterogeneities in excitation and emission spectra.

Functionalization of Nanofibrillated Cellulose with Silver Nanoclusters: Fluorescence and Antibacterial Activity

Macromolecular Bioscience, 2011
AbstractNative cellulose nanofibers are functionalized using luminescent metal nanoclusters to form a novel type of functional nanocellulose/nanocluster composite. Previously, various types of cellulose fibers have been functionalized with large, non‐luminescent metal nanoparticles.
