Subuniformity of harmonic mean p$$ p $$‐values

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We obtain several inequalities on the generalized means of dependent p$$ p $$‐values. In particular, the weighted harmonic mean of p$$ p $$‐values is strictly subuniform under several dependence assumptions of p$$ p $$‐values, including independence, negative upper orthant dependence, the class of extremal mixture copulas, and some Clayton ...

Evaluation of methods and marker Systems in Genomic Selection of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2017
Background Genomic selection (GS) uses genome-wide markers as an attempt to accelerate genetic gain in breeding programs of both animals and plants.

Interplanetary scintillation observations of the solar wind close to the Sun and out of the ecliptic [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A brief review is given of recent developments in the observation of the solar wind by the method of interplanetary scintillation. The emphasis is on observations of the velocity structure, the electron density and the effect of propagating disturbances ...

Talking about Hillsborough: ‘panic’ as discourse in survivors' accounts of the 1989 football stadium disaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Popular representations of crowd behaviour in disasters are often characterised by irrationalist discourses, in particular ‘mass panic’ despite their rejection by current scientific research.

“Naked” Divalent Metal Cations Stabilized by Weakly Coordinating Anions: Syntheses, Properties, and Emerging Applications

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The preparation of soluble and stable metal M2+ dications only stabilized by weakly coordinating anions, that is, M[WCA]2 salts, is an emerging field that, beyond its fundamental interest, holds promise in reactivity due to the high electrophilicity of the central M2+ center.

Impact of sterilization and chemical fertilizer on the microbiota of oil palm seedlings

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Soil nutrients and microbiota are known as essential components for healthy plant growth and crop productivity. However, limited studies have been conducted on the importance of soil microbiota in the early growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis

Sheep liver cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase : a fresh perspective : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The pre-steady-state mechanism of aldehyde dehydrogenase has been further investigated using synthesised deuterated 4-trans-(N,N-dimethylamino) cinnamaldehyde as a substrate.

The fast-running flies (Diptera, Hybotidae, Tachydromiinae) of Singapore and adjacent regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This is the first comprehensive introduction to the flies of the subfamily Tachydromiinae (Hybotidae) of Singapore. The monograph summarizes all publications on the Tachydromiinae of Singapore and includes new data resulting from mass-trapping surveys ...

Seasonal variations in planktonic food web structure affect stability by shifting the distribution of energy fluxes

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Seasonality in temperate ecosystems shapes species phenology, influencing interactions and food web structure. Variations in species richness and biomass affect trophic interaction strength, a crucial factor for community stability, which can be assessed through energy fluxes – an essential indicator of ecosystem function.

Dynamics of electron beams in the solar corona plasma with density fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The problem of beam propagation in a plasma with small scale and low intensity inhomogeneities is investigated. It is shown that the electron beam propagates in a plasma as a beam-plasma structure and is a source of Langmuir waves.
