Abstract The growth of the simian vacuolating virus SV-40 has been studied in green monkey kidney tissue culture cells. After an eclipse period of 20 hours intracellular virus appears and begins to be released 4 hours later. The sequential development and accumulation of viral protein and nucleic acid have been followed with the fluorescent antibody ...

Antibodies to Simian Vacuolating Virus 40 in Bladder Cancer Patients
Urologia Internationalis, 1987The occurrence of antibodies to herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and simian vacuolating virus 40 (SV40) (two presumptive oncogenic viruses) was investigated by the technique of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 233 patients with bladder cancer (200 males and 33 females) and in 466 controls (400 males and 66 females).

An association between the occurrence of antibodies to simian vacuolating virus 40 and bladder cancer in male smokers was found in a case-control study conducted in 200 male patients with bladder cancer and 400 control men. The risk of bladder cancer increases with the years of cigarette smoking.

To study the effect of simian vacuolating virus 40 (SV40) on development and differentiation of dendritic cells (DC) from rhesus macaque, the peripheral blood-derived dendritic cells from rhesus monkey were pulsed with inactivated SV40 and infective SV40, respectively at the 5th day post DC cultivation. Expressions of CD1a, HLA-DR, CD86 and CD83 on the

Chromosome aberrations were studied in cultured chinese hamster cells on the 1--4th days after infection with Simian Virus 40. In the first and second mitoses after infection a statistically significant increase of the percentage of aberrant metaphases was observed (up to 22% as compared to 8--10% in intact cells).
