Simian virus 40 in human cancers
The American Journal of Medicine, 2003Many studies have reported the presence of simian virus 40 (SV40) deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or protein in human brain tumors and bone cancers, malignant mesothelioma, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. However, the small samples and lack of control groups in some reports have made it difficult to assess their reliability.Studies were included in this ...

The nucleic acid of simian virus 40
Virology, 1964Abstract DNA extracted from SV40 virus has been shown to comprise two components with different sedimentation coefficients. The fast, 21.2 S, component appeared to be a circular molecule and the slow, 16.1 S, component the linear molecule produced by opening the ring.

Capsid proteins of simian virus 40
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1970Abstract Purified SV40 virions were disrupted by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), β-mercaptoethanol and heat, and the proteins analyzed in polyacrylamide gels in the presence of SDS. Six different polypeptide chains were found. Agregation of proteins was ruled out by treatment with 8 M urea. The major protein had a molecular weight (M.

Association of simian virus 40 T antigen with replicating nucleoprotein complexes of simian virus 40
Journal of Virology, 1980An immunoprecipitation assay was established for simian virus 40 T-antigen-bound nucleoprotein complexes by means of precipitation with sera from hamsters bearing simian virus 40-induced tumors. About 80% of simian virus 40 replicating nucleoprotein complexes in various stages of replication were immunoprecipitated. In contrast, less than 21% of mature

On the nucleoprotein core of simian virus 40
Virology, 1977Abstract It is possible to construct a model for the nucleoprotein core of simian virus 40 (SV40) with very little perturbation of the proposed structure of nucleosomes in solution.

Abstract Purified full SV40 virus particles are degraded by exposure to pH 10.5 when suspended in buffer of low ionic strength. The resulting degradation products were separated by sucrose gradient centrifugation into two fractions. One fraction contained only the polypeptide chains A and B which build up the shell of the SV40 particle.

The Simian Virus 40 Agnoprotein
1987The 61 amino acid agnoprotein of simian virus 40 (SV40) is encoded between nucleotides 335 and 523 within the leader region of late RNAs. A variety of evidence has suggested that agnoprotein may function in the viral assembly process or the control of late gene expression.
