A similarity criterion for the forest stand growth
Doklady Biological Sciences, 2012The authors try to deduce the likelihood criterion on the ground of a dimensionless approach (the Buckingham \(\pi\)-theorem) , and to apply these findings to the growth of crownpiece of tree. The relation of thus produced one-parameter curve to the well-known Chapman-Richards four-parameter curve is discussed.

Kernel image similarity criterion
2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011This paper presents a family of metrics for assessing image similarity. The methods use the Hilbert-Schmidt Independence Criterion (HSIC) to estimate nonlinear statistical dependence between multidimensional images. The proposed methods have very good theoretical and practical properties.

Similarities and Differences in Diagnostic Criterion
2017In this chapter, the main content is to discuss the similarities and differences in diagnostic criteria between substance and non-substance addictions. Firstly, diagnostic criteria of substance addiction were introduced, mainly focused on Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for the Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5).

A new similarity criterion for retinal image registration
Proceedings of 1st International Conference on Image Processing, 2002Registration methods invariably demand the evaluation of similarity between image areas using criteria based on the maintenance of pixel relative intensities. Because of the severe brightness changes in retinal images, intensity dependent similarity measures are often unable to produce useful registration results.

On the establishment of equivalence acceptance criterion in analytical similarity assessment
Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, 2017For the assessment of biosimilarity of biosimilar products, the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed a stepwise approach for providing the totality-of-the-evidence of similarity between a proposed biosimilar product and a US-licensed (reference) product.

A criterion for recognizing similarity in graphs
Calcolo, 1976The relation of similarity on graphs, as given in a previous paper, is redefined here by using the theory of structural numbers.

A new correlation criterion based on gradient fields similarity
Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1996Correlation based methods are a common tool for the correspondence problem. They are able to perform a dense point-to-point matching between two images, but post-processing is often necessary to improve the results. In this paper we propose a new correlation measure using the gradient vector fields of the images.

Geometric Similarity and Heart Weight Scaling: An Application of White’s Criterion of Similarity
Folia Primatologica, 1984Heart weight scaling among members of the primate tribe Papionini is analyzed in relation to the proposal that evolutionary size change may sometimes come about in such a way that geometric similarity is maintained across species. The results indicate that in terms of relative heart weight, the six species examined can be divided into two groups of ...

A linear matrix equation: a criterion for block similarity
Linear and Multilinear Algebra, 1992In this paper we study a homogeneous linear matrix equation related to the block similarity of rectangular matrices. We obtain the dimension of the vector space of its solutions and we describe these solutions. We give a characterization of the block similarity by rank tests. We extend Roth's criterion to the corresponding non homogeneous equation.
