A boundedness criterion for the variations of self-similar functions

Siberian Mathematical Journal, 2012
We consider self-similar functions in the space B[0, 1] of bounded functions and prove a boundedness criterion in terms of self-similarity parameters for the variations of these functions.

Killing and Letting Die: the Similarity Criterion

Journal of Applied Philosophy, 2007
abstract  Applied ethics engages with concrete moral issues. This engagement involves the application of philosophical tools. When the philosophical tools used in applied ethics are problematic, conclusions about applied problems can become skewed. In this paper, I focus on problems with the idea that comparison cases must be exactly alike, except for

A similarity criterion of the optimal process in melt spinning

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1980
AbstractExperimental and simulation studies of optimization of the melt spinning process were carried out for nylon 6 fibers. The experiment and process simulation demonstrated that one criterion that can be applied in scaling up an optimized melt spinning process is to achieve the similar real time history of temperature and deformation rate in the ...

Mutual Information-Based Texture Spectral Similarity Criterion

2019
Fast novel texture spectral similarity criterion, capable of assessing spectral modeling resemblance of color and Bidirectional Texture Functions (BTF) textures, is presented. The criterion reliably compares the multi-spectral pixel values of two textures, and thus it allows to assist an optimal modeling or acquisition setup development by comparing ...

Similarity criterion for a confined swirling jet system

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1977
A similarity criterion is proposed for a confined, isothermal, axisymmetric swirling jet system. This criterion has been derived in essentially two different manners, firstly by integrating the differential equations of motion under certain assumptions and secondly by considering the overall changes in the system.

The number OS - new criterion of the similarity

Proceedings. The 8th Russian-Korean International Symposium on Science and Technology, 2004. KORUS 2004., 2005
The design of snow contours of a basic surface was at a loss because of the absence of physical models of snow adequate to the conditions of movement. Results of experiments were given in dimensional form. The author, on the basis of his own researches has offered such model of snow.

Minimax Criterion of Similarity for Video Information Processing

2007 Siberian Conference on Control and Communications, 2007
In this paper we propose new family of functions similarity allowing with a high degree of accuracy to process a video information. These functions forms an integral similarity estimate based on sequential minimax analysis image elements. Results of experimental researches for object detection in image and image sequences are presented.

Criterions of ν-similarity for the two-dimensional birth-death processes

2017 22nd International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2017
In the paper we examine ν-similarity of birth-death processes in two-dimensional case. A necessary condition for two processes being similar by obtaining relations between their birth and death rates is derived. We analyze situation for ν-similar birth-death processes, what is a generalization of the previous results for similar birth-and-death ...

The Criterion of Self-similarity for Wall Velocities

2017
In this chapter, the criterion of self-similarity for the two- and three-dimensional flows and the axially symmetric flows has been derived completely. The construction of similarity variables for these flows has been done in full detail.
