Discrimination of simple and complex gratings

Vision Research, 1975
Abstract We investigated the discriminability of simple and complex gratings containing one or two barely detectable sinusoidal luminance modulations at 3 and 9 c/deg, which will be referred to as ƒ and 3ƒ. Our major findings were the following: (1) frequency discrimination of the simple gratings seems to be limited only by their detectability; (

Simple Lattice Simulation of Chiral Discrimination in Monolayers

Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, 2002
A simulation method based on cellular automata on a hexagonal lattice is applied to model the behavior of chiral molecules on a surface, such as those in a monolayer of amphiphiles each having a single chiral center. The simulation method includes movement and orientation rules, with the objects ("molecules") on the lattice vertices possessing three ...

Simple Word Sense Discrimination

Computers and the Humanities, 2000
Wisdom is a system for performing word sense disambiguation (WSD) using a limited number of linguistic features and a simple supervised learning algorithm. The most likely sense tag for a word is determined by calculating co-occurrence statistics for words appearing within a small window.
