Mining and Survey of Simple Sequence Repeats in Expressed Sequence Tags of Tomato Species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) of three tomato species were computationally mined for simple sequence repeats (SSRs). A total of 4,490, 291 and 1,270 simple sequence repeats identified in analyzed non-redundant ESTs of Solanum lycoperisicum, Solanum ...

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Genetic diversity and DNA fingerprinting in jute (Corchorus spp.) based on SSR markers

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2015
Genetic diversity analysis and DNA finger printing are very useful in breeding programs, seed conservation and management. Jute (Corchorus spp.) is the second most important natural fiber crop after cotton.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
