Stabilization Control of a Simply Supported Buckled Beam

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2003
A stabilization control scheme for a simply supported buckled beam subjected to a compressive force is proposed theoretically and experimentally. It is easily predicted that the application of a control force based on P-control (control force is proportional to the deflection) increases the stiffness of the beam as well as the critical compressive ...

Static and Dynamic Analysis of Simply Supported Beams

Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 2007
In this study, two deflection functions due to flexure and shear have been obtained for the global form of composite materials. Two different composite materials are selected for comparison of these deflection functions. These composites are: polymer matrix composite simply supported beam, reinforced by unidirectional fibers; and thermoplastic simply ...

A Backstepping Boundary Observer for a Simply Supported Beam

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2019
This paper presents the development of a full-state observer for an Euler-Bernoulli beam system with simply supported boundary conditions. This problem is motivated by the necessity of estimators in control and diagnostic applications. The observer is developed using a backstepping procedure.

The Radiation Resistance of a Simply Supported Beam

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1973
Convenient approximate solutions for the modal radiation resistance are presented for a baffled simply supported beam that is acoustically narrow. The results compare very well with those obtained by numerical integration, which are considered to be exact.

Large Deformation of Simply Supported Beams

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1975
The large deformation bending of simply supported beams, especially with asymmetric loads, has received little attention because of the difficulty in starting a solution. In this paper a numerical iterative method is used to obtain and thus establish the slope variation. From the slope variation, the required deflection quantities can be computed.

Large deflections of simply supported beams

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1955
Large deflections of simply supported beams have been studied when the trans verse loading consists of a uniformity distributed load plus a century concentrate load under the two cases, (1) the reactions are vertical. (2) the reactions are normal to the bent beam together with frictional forces.

Inelastic Buckling of Simply Supported Steel I-Beams

Journal of the Structural Division, 1975
Experimental investigations of inelastic flexural-torsional buckling of rolled steel I-beams were carried out. The full-scale simply supported beams were without intermediate restraints and carried central concentrated loads. Experimental results compared well with theoretical predictions.
