COMPARISON OF DIGESTION METHODS APPLIED FOR LEAD QUANTIFICATION IN DRINKING WATER SAMPLES

open access: yes, 2018
This study evaluated the digestion efficiency of a new rigorous digestion technique: focused shortwave infrared radiation digestion (SWIR). The increases of acid concentrations to 5% v/v and extended digestion time to 2h could increase lead recovery of ...

Matrix Stiffness Enhances Odontogenic Differentiation of DPSCs through Membrane Curvature Protein Baiap2‐Modulated Exosome Release

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Matrix stiffness softening is identified as a previously underappreciated feature in deep caries. Higher stiffness drives exosome release in dental pulp stem cells through a coordinated mechanism involving PI3K–AKT‐regulated Baiap2 and kinesin‐1, thereby promoting odontogenic differentiation.

Deacetylated Konjac Glucomannan with a Slower Hydration Rate Delays Rice Digestion and Weakens Appetite Response

open access: yesMolecules
The physical characteristics of chyme during gastrointestinal digestion are considered to significantly affect nutrient digestion and absorption (such as glucose diffusion), which has an impact on postprandial satiety.

Continuous Evolution System Based on Toxin–Antitoxin System Combined with Base Deaminase Accelerates the In Vivo Modification of Target Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The promoted Escherichia coli‐assisted continuous evolution (PEACE) system operates through a stringent three step genetic circuit: target gene mutation via a deaminase–T7 RNA polymerase (T7 RNAP) fusion, coupling variant function to antitoxin expression, and growth based selection of surviving cells.

Process Simulation Model for Anaerobic Digestion

open access: yes, 2013
In this study, a novel process simulation model (PSM) was developed for anaerobicdigestion using Aspen Plus® (version 7.3.2). PSM has two parts, one for hydrolysis working based onextent of reaction and the other on kinetics of reactions. A total of 53 reactions were used in the modelincluding inhibitions, rate kinetics, pH, ammonia, volume and HRT ...

Rhoifolin Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis by Targeting NMNAT1 and Activating SIRT1‐FOXO1 Signaling to Enhance ILC3s Effector Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rhoifolin directly targets NMNAT1, thereby activating nicotinamide salvage pathway and promoting intracellular NAD+ biosynthesis. Elevated NAD+ levels enhance SIRT1 activity, leading to FOXO1 deacetylation and nuclear translocation. Nuclear FOXO1 subsequently binds to the IL‐22 promoter, upregulating IL‐22 transcription and potentiating ILC3 effector ...

Heat‐Suppressing Projection Two‐Photon Lithography Enables High‐Throughput Sub‐Micrometer Manufacturing of Biopolymer Hydrogels for Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The iLEAP technique integrates high‐throughput two‐photon lithography with extrusion printing, bridging sub‐micrometer precision and macroscopic scaffold fabrication. By employing a low‐exothermic photoinitiator, it mitigates thermal damage to biopolymers and preserves bioactivity.

High‐Entropy Engineering and External Magnetic Field Modulation Synergistically Enhance the H2S Sensing Performance of Rare‐Earth Perovskite Ferrites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel high‐entropy perovskite oxide, (Gd0.2Tb0.2Dy0.2Ho0.2Er0.2)FeO3, was successfully synthesized for advanced hydrogen sulfide gas detection. By synergistically coupling high‐entropy‐induced local lattice distortion with weak magnetic field modulation, the tailored material generates abundant active sites. This innovative dual strategy dramatically
