Selling simulation and simulation results [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 24th conference on Winter simulation - WSC '92, 1992
Selling simulation as a valid analysis tool is the first, and maybe the most important, step in the simulation process. Once the decision has been made to use simulation, the analyst must then be concerned with selling the ultimate results produced by the simulation.

A ducted wind turbine simulation model for building simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Power production is shifting away from centralized generation plants to production of heat and power at the point of demand. A technology that may play a part in this shift is the ducted wind turbine (DWT).

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Numerical Simulation on Shoreline Change in Western Region of Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Shoreline change is considered the most dynamic processes in coastal region. Coastal erosion is a global problem where 70% beaches around the world are recessional. Almost all coastal area in Bali is potential to suffer from erosion.

Simulation Logic

open access: yesLogic and Logical Philosophy, 2013
Simulation relations have been discovered in many areas: Computer Science, philosophical and modal logic, and set theory. However, the simulation condition is strictly a first-order logic statement. We extend modal logic with modalities and axioms, the latter’s modeling conditions are the simulation conditions.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Stress and Strain in Flat Piling of Disks

open access: yes, 2003
We have created a flat piling of disks in a numerical experiment using the Distinct Element Method (DEM) by depositing them under gravity. In the resulting pile, we then measured increments in stress and strain that were associated with a small decrease ...

Interval simulation: raising the level of abstraction in architectural simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Detailed architectural simulators suffer from a long development cycle and extremely long evaluation times. This longstanding problem is further exacerbated in the multi-core processor era.
