Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

WiMAX Capacity Estimations and Simulation Results [PDF]

open access: yesVTC Spring 2008 - IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2008
In this paper, we propose some considerations for the WiMAX capacity. The developments realized for a WiMAX NS-2 module are presented. This module allows the evaluation of the WiMAX. We present the spectrum efficiency and mean sojourn time of WiMAX determined through simulations for different scheduling algorithms.

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Simulation and analysis of a gas insulated switchgear explosion accident caused by a failure of high-voltage circuit breaker in a thermal power plant

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study analyses a gas insulated switchgear explosion accident caused by a failure of the circuit breaker (CB) in a thermal power plant, which resulted in the explosion of the CB and the burning of the potential transformer (PT).

From junk to function — How weak selection in eukaryotes builds new parts and drives genomic complexity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...
