An Analytical Approach for Predicting EHL Friction: Usefulness and Limitations

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
The article studies the friction coefficient in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) by means of analytically obtained equations for different contact geometries.

Luminosity distance and redshift in the Szekeres inhomogeneous cosmological models

open access: yes, 2011
The Szekeres inhomogeneous models can be used to model the true lumpy universe that we observe. This family of exact solutions to Einstein's equations was originally derived with a general metric that has no symmetries. In this work, we develop and use a

ECONOMETRIC MODELS FOR DETERMING THE EXCHANGE RATE [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Română de Statistică, 2012
The simple econometric models for the exchange rate, according to recent researches, generates the forecasts with the highest degree of accuracy. This type of models (Simultaneous Equations Model, MA(1) Procedure, Model with lagged variables) is used to ...

On Bayesian Analysis of Seemingly Unrelated Regression Model with Skew Distribution Error

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2020
The simultaneous equation models (SEMs) are one of the standard statistical tools for analyzing multivariate regression when the errors are correlated with some covariates.

Action of public power between the control of corruption and economic growth in the MENA region

open access: yesRevue des Etudes Multidisciplinaires en Sciences Economiques et Sociales, 2020
The objective of this article is to study first the effects of the control of corruption on economic growth by putting into consécdération the role of the action of the public power during the period 1984-2018 while using the models with simultaneous ...

Robust estimation in simultaneous equations models [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
In this paper we review existing work on robust estimation for simultaneous equations models. Then we discuss three strategies for obtaining estimators with a high breakdown point, a controllable efficiency, and a reasonable computational cost: (a ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

A Numerical Implementation of the Soret Effect in Drying Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Drying of porous media is strictly governed by heat and mass transfer. However, contrary to the definition that drying is simultaneous transport mechanisms of heat and mass, most past and current models either account for temperature or concentration ...

Simultaneous Equations Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Economists formulate models for consumption, production, investment, money demand and money supply, labor demand and labor supply to attempt to explain the workings of the economy. These behavioral equations are estimated equation by equation or jointly as a system of equations. These are known as simultaneous equations models.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
