Simultaneous segmentation and bias field estimation using local fitted images

open access: yesPattern Recognition, 2018
Level set methods often suffer from boundary leakage and inadequate segmentation when used to segment images with inhomogeneous intensities. To handle this issue, a novel region-based level set method was developed, in which two different local fitted images are used to construct a hybrid region intensity fitting energy functional.

Boosting Techniques for Nonlinear Time Series Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Many of the popular nonlinear time series models require a priori the choice of parametric functions which are assumed to be appropriate in specific applications.

Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Investigation and Analysis of the Simultaneous Switching Noise in Power Distribution Network with Multi-Power Supplies of High Speed CMOS Circuits

open access: yesActive and Passive Electronic Components, 2017
The paper studies a simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in a power distribution network (PDN) with dual supply voltages and two cores. This is achieved by reducing the admittance matrix Y of the PDN then calculating frequency domain impedance with ...

Simultaneous PIXE and RBS data analysis using Bayesian Inference with the DataFurnace code

open access: yes, 2007
The Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) and Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) techniques can be used to obtain complementary information about the characteristics of a sample but, traditionally, a gap has separated the available computer ...

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

SPECIES-SPECIFIC BIOMASS EQUATIONS FOR SMALL-SIZE TREE SPECIES IN SECONDARY TROPICAL FORESTS

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2019
Secondary tropical forests are largely dominated by small-diameter trees. Their contribution to the total stand productivity may be determinant for ecosystem functioning.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
