Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Revisited Half-Quadratic Approach for Simultaneous Robust Fitting of Multiple Curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we address the problem of robustly recovering several instances of a curve model from a single noisy data set with outliers. Using M-estimators revisited in a Lagrangian formalism, we derive an algorithm that we call Simultaneous Multiple Robust Fitting (SMRF), which extends the classical Iterative Reweighted Least Squares algorithm ...

Simultaneous fitting of real-time PCR data with efficiency of amplification modeled as Gaussian function of target fluorescence-2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
SYBR green detection. The diagram shows forward primer, LNA hydrolysis probe with 5' fluorophore (filled circle) and 3' quencher (open circle), and the entire amplicon antisense strand, with reverse primer sequence underlined. A 3' phosphate (P) prevents

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Fitting conditional and simultaneous autoregressive spatial models in hglm [Elektronisk resurs] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present a new version (> 2.0) of the hglm package for fitting hierarchical generalized linear models (HGLMs) with spatially correlated random effects.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Small area estimation of consumption per capita expenditure under simultaneous equation Rao-Yu model

open access: yesMethodsX
This article proposed a simultaneous equation model for small area estimation with random area and time-varying effects called the Simultaneous Equation Rao-Yu (SERY) model. In the context of small area estimation, many socioeconomic variables are likely

Simultaneous multiple-emitter fitting for single molecule super-resolution imaging

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2011
Single molecule localization based super-resolution imaging techniques require repeated localization of many single emitters. We describe a method that uses the maximum likelihood estimator to localize multiple emitters simultaneously within a single, two-dimensional fitting sub-region, yielding an order of magnitude improvement in the tolerance of the

A method of spectral subband decomposition by simultaneous fitting the initial spectrum and a set of its derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
An improved method for spectral subband decomposition based on simultaneous fitting of the initial spectrum and a set of its derivatives is introduced. Additionally, it procedure for finding an optimal smoothing filter to obtain undistorted derivatives ...
