Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification using SiporaxTM Packing
In this paper, we examine a biofilm process for simultaneous removal of ammonia and NOX (nitrite and nitrate). SiporaxTM, a porous Raschig-ring type filter specifically designed and manufactured for fast colonisation by micro-organisms, was used to demonstrate the feasibility of simultaneous nitrification (usually an aerobic process) and ...

Simultaneous nitrification/denitrification in an aerobic biofilm system
In the biological pretreatment of landfill leachate in Mechernich (Germany) a loss of inorganic nitrogen of up to 90% was observed in the nitrification step (rotating biological contactor) under low DO conditions. Ammonia was removed but only small amounts of nitrate were produced. Nitrite accumulation did not occur.

Removal of Ammonia Nitrogen by Activated Sludge Process Using Simultaneous Nitrification Denitrification Method [PDF]
Nitrogen concentrations are often found in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and neutral nitrogen waters. This research has investigated the simultaneous removal of biological nitrogen nitrification and denitrification (SND) in a continuous flow system of ...

Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification based on internal circulation baffled reactor
Nitrogen removal experiments were carried out by using an internal circulation baffled bioreactor (ICBBR). Nitrate, nitrite and ammonia were used as N source for nitrogen removal experiments. The ICBBR has high nitrogen removal capacity.

Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification in Aerobic Chemostat Cultures of Thiosphaera pantotropha [PDF]
Thiosphaera pantotropha is capable of simultaneous heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification. Consequently, its nitrification potential could not be judged from nitrite accumulation, but was estimated from complete nitrogen balances. The maximum rate of nitrification obtained during these experiments was 93.9 nmol
