Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification using SiporaxTM Packing

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1999
In this paper, we examine a biofilm process for simultaneous removal of ammonia and NOX (nitrite and nitrate). SiporaxTM, a porous Raschig-ring type filter specifically designed and manufactured for fast colonisation by micro-organisms, was used to demonstrate the feasibility of simultaneous nitrification (usually an aerobic process) and ...

Simultaneous nitrification/denitrification in an aerobic biofilm system

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1998
In the biological pretreatment of landfill leachate in Mechernich (Germany) a loss of inorganic nitrogen of up to 90% was observed in the nitrification step (rotating biological contactor) under low DO conditions. Ammonia was removed but only small amounts of nitrate were produced. Nitrite accumulation did not occur.

Heterotrophic nitrifiers and aerobic denitrifiers in process of simultaneous nitrification and denitrification disposing NH4+-N wastewater

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2007
Heterotrophic nitrifiers were screened from bio-ceramic reactor, and were characterized using sodium acetate and ammonium chloride as carbon and nitrogen sources.

Removal of Ammonia Nitrogen by Activated Sludge Process Using Simultaneous Nitrification Denitrification Method [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
Nitrogen concentrations are often found in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and neutral nitrogen waters. This research has investigated the simultaneous removal of biological nitrogen nitrification and denitrification (SND) in a continuous flow system of ...

Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification based on internal circulation baffled reactor

open access: yes上海师范大学学报. 自然科学版, 2014
Nitrogen removal experiments were carried out by using an internal circulation baffled bioreactor (ICBBR). Nitrate, nitrite and ammonia were used as N source for nitrogen removal experiments. The ICBBR has high nitrogen removal capacity.

Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification in Aerobic Chemostat Cultures of Thiosphaera pantotropha [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988
Thiosphaera pantotropha is capable of simultaneous heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification. Consequently, its nitrification potential could not be judged from nitrite accumulation, but was estimated from complete nitrogen balances. The maximum rate of nitrification obtained during these experiments was 93.9 nmol

Unraveling the role of inert biomass in membrane aerated biofilm reactors for simultaneous nitrification and denitrification

open access: yesMathematics in Applied Sciences and Engineering
This study presents an innovative 2D spatio-temporal model that sheds light on the intricate formation of biofilms, incorporating two essential biomass decay pathways: cell lysis and endogenous respiration.

Study on Advanced Nitrogen Removal and Microbial Community Structure of Traditional Chinese Medicine Wastewater by a Novel System Coupling Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor and Modified Sequencing Batch Biofilm Reactor

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
To improve the efficiency of nitrogen removal from pharmaceutical wastewater, wastewater from traditional Chinese medicine was treated in an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) combined with a modified sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR).
