Alleviation of Cartilage Destruction by Sinapic Acid in Experimental Osteoarthritis [PDF]

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2019
Sinapic acid (SA) modulates the nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathway in chondrocytes. In order to test the hypothesis that SA is protective against the development of osteoarthritis (OA), primary mouse chondrocytes were treated in vitro with SA and the promoter transactivation activity of heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), nuclear

Metabolism of sinapic acid and related compounds in the rat [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1969
1. Administration of sinapic acid to the rat results in the excretion of 3-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenylpropionic acid, dihydrosinapic acid, 3-hydroxy-5-methoxycinnamic acid and unchanged sinapic acid in the urine. The sinapic acid conjugate sinalbin is also catabolized to free sinapic acid and 3-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenylpropionic acid in the rat. 2.

Tectono‐Sedimentary Evolution of the Neogene İnegöl Basin (NW Anatolia): Constraints on Transtensional Basin Development at the Junction of the Western Anatolian Extensional Province and the North Anatolian Fault Zone

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The study outlines the tectono‐sedimentary evolution of the İnegöl Basin in north‐western Anatolia. Basin formation was controlled by interacting extensional and strike‐slip fault systems linked to uplift of the Uludağ Massif. Terrestrial sedimentation from the Miocene to Pleistocene is reconstructed using abundant fossil mammal assemblages that ...

An interdisciplinary review of the interplay of conflict, socio‐economic factors, and land cover and vegetation dynamics in Colombia

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Colombia's forests play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and mitigating climate change, but they are currently facing severe degradation, particularly after the 2016 Peace Agreement. Our literature review highlights a growing research interest in this topic and demonstrates how interdisciplinary approaches combining diverse methods can enhance

Enforcing environmental law in the Amazon

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 7, Page 2281-2294, July 2026.
Abstract This article identifies the underlying obstacles to enforcement of laws against environmental crimes such as illegal logging, mining and ranching. With four departments (provinces) from Colombia as case studies, it assesses enforcement of the country's main environmental law, Law 2111, which is one of Latin America's strongest. The article has

Climate Change Can Drive a Significant Loss of Suitable Habitat for Polylepis quadrijuga, a Treeline Species in the Sky Islands of the Northern Andes

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2021
It is predicted that climate change will strongly affect plant distributions in high elevation “sky islands” of tropical Andes. Polylepis forests are a dominant element of the treeline throughout the Andes Cordillera in South America.

Machine Learning‐Based Loan Approval Automation: Enhancing Efficiency, Accuracy and Fairness in Credit Decision‐Making

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Traditional loan approval processes are manual, time‐consuming and susceptible to human bias. This research develops a machine learning‐based system to automate loan eligibility assessment while enhancing efficiency, accuracy and fairness in credit decision‐making. We developed and compared multiple supervised ML models—including Random Forest,
