Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Single-Cell RNA-Sequencing: Assessment of Differential Expression Analysis Methods

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2017
The sequencing of the transcriptomes of single-cells, or single-cell RNA-sequencing, has now become the dominant technology for the identification of novel cell types and for the study of stochastic gene expression.

CRISPR screening in single cells

open access: yes, 2019
The combination of single-cell RNA-seq and CRISPR allows for efficient interrogation of possibly any number of genes, only limited by the sequencing capability. Here we describe the current protocols for CRISPR screening in single cells, from cloning and

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Single Cell RNA-Sequencing for the Study of Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid and Atherosclerosis, 2019
Atherosclerosis is a major cause of coronary artery disease and stroke. A massive and new type of data has finally arrived in the field of atherosclerosis: single cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq). Recently, scRNAseq has been successfully applied to the study of atherosclerosis to identify previously uncharacterized cell populations.
