Design of Adaptive Distributed Secondary Control Using Double-Hidden-Layer Recurrent-Neural-Network-Inherited Total-Sliding-Mode Scheme for Islanded Micro-Grid

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
This study proposes an adaptive double-hidden-layer recurrent-neural-network (DRNN)-based distributed secondary control (ADRNN-SC) scheme for the voltage restoration and the optimal active power sharing in an islanded micro-grid (MG).

Organizational Learning Process in Single, Double and Triple Loop Companies in a Post-Crisis Situation in the Textile Sector in Tunisia

open access: yesJournal of Entrepreneurship & Organization Management, 2017
It is an “exploratory” research that tries to determine the most adopted organizational learning processes in postcrisis Textile companies in Tunisia to guarantee their continuity and their survival. The research methodology is summarized by the following steps: • Exploratory qualitative study (non-formal because of the refusal to allow recorded ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Assessment of the Sustainability Performance of Eco-Engineering Measures in the Mediterranean Region

open access: yesLand, 2022
Eco-engineering has a crucial role in defining and achieving the sustainability credentials of a civil engineering project. Better eco-engineering practices would help better in reducing the adverse impacts on the environment and society, but also on the

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.
