We experimentally report a proof-of-concept demonstration of a few-mode fiber (FMF) based distributed acoustic sensor (DAS) design, aiming at upgrading the capabilities of the typical DAS that employs the standard single mode fiber (SMF).

Cavity QED quantum phase gates for a single longitudinal mode of the intracavity field [PDF]

A single three-level atom driven by a longitudinal mode of a high-Q cavity is used to implement two-qubit quantum phase gates for the intracavity field. The two qubits are associated to the zero-and one-photon Fock states of each of the two opposite circular polarization states of the field.

Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

We use a compound four-cavity to expand the longitudinal mode spacing of the laser and a homemade grating F-P filter and a saturable absorber to narrow the gain spectral bandwidth, enabling the laser to operate in a single-frequency
