Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion

This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...

Nonlinear effects in single-particle photothermal imaging
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2023Although photothermal imaging was originally designed to detect individual molecules that do not emit or small nanoparticles that do not scatter, the technique is now being applied to image and spectroscopically characterize larger and more sophisticated nanoparticle structures that scatter light strongly.

Diffraction imaging of single particles and biomolecules
Journal of Structural Biology, 2003Theory predicts that with a very short and very intense X-ray pulse, the image of a single diffraction pattern may be recorded from a large macromolecule, a virus, or a nanocluster of proteins without the need for a crystal. A three-dimensional data set can be assembled from such images when many copies of the molecule are exposed to the beam one by ...
