Novel protection scheme of stator single-phase-to-ground fault for powerformers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems, 2013
Abstract This paper presents a novel stator single-phase-to-ground fault protection of Powerformer in parallel based on the fuzzy clustering algorithms. First, the direction and magnitude of zero-sequence current and leakage current are analyzed, and four fault characters are selected as historical data.

FEATURES OF A FAULTY PHASE AT SINGLE PHASE-TO-GROUND FAULTS

open access: yesElectrical and data processing facilities and systems, 2022
Relevance Devices for determining the location of fault on power lines assume a known type of short circuit and faulty phases. However, their algorithms, as a rule, can not distinguish the faulty phase. Therefore, the determination of faulty phases during short circuits on power lines is performed by separate devices – faulty phase selectors.

Methods in Single Phase to Ground Faults on Power Distribution Systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2019
This study highlights the main contributions for the single phase to ground faults on distribution networks field throughout a last three decades from classic methods to heuristic methods. The surveys about 76 papers that are published in the field, the quantity of existing methods for each method is determined and categorized.

Mathematical Modeling of Arc Faults in Networks with Low Single Phase-to-Ground Fault Currents [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The article comprises the results of the research defining open-flame arcs self-quenching conditions in the event of a single phase-to-ground fault in overhead medium-voltage distribution networks according to existing theories of arc extinguishing. The calculations included metallic and arc faults modeling in a network with low phase-to-ground fault ...

A Fault Localization Method for Single-Phase to Ground Faults in LV Smart Distribution Grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A fault localization method for single-phase to ground short-circuit (SC) faults in low voltage (LV) smart distribution grids is presented in this paper. Both the use of rms voltage phase measurements and an analysis of symmetrical components of the voltage were investigated and compared in this study.

Reproduction Methodology for Single Phase-to-Ground Faults in Overhead Transmission Lines

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Reproducing key fault information quantitatively has practical significance for the fault diagnosis of overhead transmission lines (OLTs). In order to reproduce the key fault information of a single phase-to-ground (SPG) fault, this paper proposes a reproduction methodology based on the waveform inversion theory and the propagation characteristics of a

Analysis of Single-Phase-to-Ground Faults at the Valve-Side of HB-MMCs in HVDC Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2019
Although the probability of occurrence of station internal ac grounding faults in modular multilevel converter (MMC)-based high-voltage direct-current systems is low, they may lead to severe consequences that should be considered when designing protection systems. This paper analyzes the characteristics of valve-side single-phase-to-ground (SPG) faults

Study of a New Approach about Locating Single-phase-to-ground Fault [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Intelligent Systems Research, 2013
First this paper briefly analyzes the electric power transient signal of single phase grounding fault, and then the fault characteristics of zero sequence current and bus voltage is obtained by wavelet transformation. Finally by using genetic algorithm to optimize the original weights of back-propagation neural network, as well as taking the fault ...

Single-Phase-to-Ground Fault Location Method Based on SOGI

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Most fault location methods depend on the exact extraction of fault transient feature. However, due to the weak grounding current, arc grounding and intermittent problems, it is difficult to extract the fault transient feature. Based on second-order generalized integrator (SOGI), a single-phase-to-ground fault section location method for neutral point ...

Algorithm for single phase-to-ground fault digital distance relay

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2012
The value of the potential that appears at the fault location during a ground fault at a high-voltage overhead line depends on many different factors and cannot be considered as an a priori known quantity. Owing to this, the influence of this quantity on the current and voltage measured at one of the line terminals is also unknown so the fault distance
