Phase-response analysis of synchronization for periodic flows

open access: yes, 2018
We apply the phase-reduction analysis to examine synchronization properties of periodic fluid flows. The dynamics of unsteady flows are described in terms of the phase dynamics reducing the high-dimensional fluid flow to its single scalar phase variable.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Turbulence Modelling of a Single-Phase Flow Cyclone Gasifier

open access: yesEngineering, 2017
The current work aims to make a foundation for an engineering design of a cyclone gasifier to be able not only to predict its flow field with a suitable accuracy but also to investigate a large number of design alternatives with limited computer resources. A good single-phase flow model that can form the basis in an Euler-Lagrange model for multi-phase

Criterion for traffic phases in single vehicle data and empirical test of a microscopic three-phase traffic theory

open access: yes, 2005
A microscopic criterion for distinguishing synchronized flow and wide moving jam phases in single vehicle data measured at a single freeway location is presented.

On the multispacecraft determination of periodic surface wave phase speeds and wavelengths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Observations of surface waves on the magnetopause indicate a wide range of phase velocities and wavelengths. Their multispacecraft analysis allows a more precise determination of wave characteristics than ever before and reveal shortcomings of ...

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

On the surface equations in two-phase flows and reacting single-phase flows [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2007
This paper summarizes the mathematical surface equations which are useful in two-phase flows and single-phase reactingflows. The connection between the interfacial area concentration transport equation for two-phase flows and the flamesurface density transport equation for turbulent reacting flows is established.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

EXERGO-ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF MICROCHANNELS IN SINGLE-PHASE FLOW [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Engineering, 2018
With the increase of energy demand, many researchers tried to develop scientific approaches in order to design more efficient and environmentally friendly energy systems. Exergo-economic (thermoeconomic) analysis of a system or device is an efficient tool for evaluating the system in terms of the thermodynamic and economic aspects.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...
