A novel model for single photon detectors

2005 12th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2005
A novel model useful to simulate single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) is here presented. The developed description uses both voltage-controlled analog switch and Verilog-A description codes and it overcomes the drawbacks of the models reported in literature.

High-efficiency single-photon detectors

Physical Review A, 1993
Using correlated photon pairs produced via spontaneous parametric down-conversion, we have measured the absolute single-photon detection efficiencies and time responses of four detectors: two solid-state photomultipliers (SSPM's) manufactured by Rockwell International Corp., and two custom-modified single-photon counting modules (SSPM's) manufactured ...

Solid‐state single‐photon detectors

Optical Engineering, 1996
This paper reviews the state of the art of some new photoncounting detectors. We measured the performance of various commercial silicon, germanium, and InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) in the 0.8- to 1.55-mm wavelength range. Optimized silicon devices reach 70% quantum efficiency at 800 nm and can work up to 1.1 mm.

Quantum Detector Tomography on Superconducting Single Photon Detectors

Research in Optical Sciences, 2014
We use quantum detector tomography (QDT) to investigate the physics of photodetection in superconducting single photon detectors. With this, we achieve the key promise of QDT: agnostic, model-free investigation of an unknown detector.

Superconducting single photon detectors

2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2013
There is increasing interest in using superconducting optical photon detectors in a variety of applications. These applications require detectors that have extremely low dark count rates, high count rates, and high quantum efficiency. I will describe our work on two types of superconducting detectors, the Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detector
