A Single-Photon Detector Module
Instruments and Experimental Techniques, 2018A module for recording single-photon pulses is described. It is able to reliably operate in the mode of single-photon counting at a wavelength of 1550 nm (the minimum attenuation in quartz fibers). For this purpose, unique avalanche photodetectors (APDs) based on InGaAs/InP heterostructures with the three-stage cooling to temperatures of –50°C via ...

An acoustoelectric single photon detector
Semiconductor Science and Technology, 2007We propose a novel single photon detector for quantum information processing and for general applications in areas where the detection of ultra weak photon fluxes is required. The detector is also capable of discriminating between different numbers of photons in a light pulse.

Single-Photon Detector Calibration
2013Abstract We discuss applying single-photon detectors to measurements with high accuracy. Two primary standard methods of detector calibration are reviewed: one based on a radiant power measurement (substitution method) and the other—on a simultaneous generation of photon pairs (correlation method).

Advances in single photon detectors
2009 IEEE International Conference on Indium Phosphide & Related Materials, 2009Recently, several applications that benefit from single photon detection have emerged. One area that appears promising is ultra-secure. Key performance parameters for this emerging technology are high single photon detection efficiencies, low dark count rates, and low after pulsing.

Ultrafast waveguide integrated single photon detectors
2017 19th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2017Single photon detectors based on superconductor nanowires (SNSPDs) provide high efficiency and good timing performance, as well as broad optical detection bandwidth. To move towards applications in high bandwidth quantum communication and processing, ultrafast detectors with high efficiency are needed.

Nanoscale Single-Photon Detectors
2023Photodetectors are universal sensors employed in telecommunication technologies, telescopes for astronomy, optical imaging, environmental monitoring, and spectroscopy. The Avalanche Photodiode (APD) is widely used in these areas due to its CMOS integration and high sensitivities in linear operation.
